Many celebrated results in geometry and topology have been proved by geometric analysis approaches in recent years. More and more mathematicians with different backgrounds, e.g. Riemannian geometry, partial differential equations, topology and even probability, come to contribute in the field of geometric analysis.
In this fast-developing field, young mathematicians are eager to broaden their research horizons. The aim of this workshop is to bring together young mathematicians from both overseas and mainland working in different areas of geometric analysis to present their research works.
To minimize the knowledge and experience “gap” between senior mathematicians and junior ones, and to cultivate a vibrant discussion atmosphere, we hope to restrict the attendees of this workshop to young geometric analysts under the age of 40, or who have obtained his/her Ph.D. within last 10 years.
Following the model of Young Geometric Analysts' Forum 2015, we propose to invite about 45 speakers , two thirds of whom are from overseas. We have included more international scholars this year. As last time, we will also organize a special session on open problems in geometric analysis. Participants are encouraged to submit and present open problems in his/her research area to the audiences.
This workshop aims to bring young geometric analysts to the frontiers of the research in this field, and to inspire collaborations among attendees. Meanwhile, it also helps to enhance the international influence of the Tsinghua Sanya International Mathematics Forum and Yau Mathematical Sciences Center. With the success of Young Geometric Analysts' Forum 2015, we are optimistic and determined to carry on this event to a higher level.
